Frequently Asked Questions
Everything homeowners ask before starting a project with us — from licensing and service areas to timelines and what's covered after we're done.
Yes. We hold active contractor licenses in both states. In California we carry a B1 General Contractor license and a C36 Plumbing license (CA Lic# 1139828). In Utah we hold a B100 General Contractor, E100 Electrical, and S350 license (UT Lic# 12521873-5501). You can verify both licenses through the CSLB (California) and DOPL (Utah) online portals.
Yes — we are licensed, bonded, and fully insured. We carry general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage on every project. We're happy to provide certificates of insurance before work begins.
Yes. We handle all required permits as part of the project. Permitted work protects you as the homeowner — it ensures inspections are completed and the work is on record, which matters when you sell or refinance. We never ask you to pull permits yourself to cut corners.
A B1 (General Building Contractor) license in California allows us to take on projects that involve two or more unrelated trades — for example, a kitchen remodel that includes framing, plumbing, and electrical. It's the broadest residential contractor classification and means you don't need to hire and coordinate multiple specialty subs on your own.
We serve all of Ventura County, including Ventura, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Fillmore, and Santa Paula. If you're just outside this list, call us — we often work in neighboring areas depending on project scope.
We serve Washington County, Utah, including St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Ivins, Santa Clara, La Verkin, and Toquerville. The St. George metro is our primary UT service area.
For larger projects — custom home builds, whole-home renovations, or commercial work — we're open to discussing travel. Contact us with your project details and location and we'll let you know if it's a fit.
Our team has deep roots in both Ventura County and the St. George area. Many of our clients have connections to both regions, and operating in both states lets us serve them wherever they need us. Both offices are staffed locally.
A kitchen remodel typically runs 4–8 weeks depending on scope — cabinet lead times, countertop fabrication, and whether any structural or plumbing work is involved. A bathroom renovation usually takes 2–4 weeks. We'll give you a specific schedule in your estimate before any work begins.
A custom home build typically takes 8–14 months from permit approval to move-in, depending on size, complexity, and site conditions. We provide a detailed construction schedule broken into phases so you always know what's happening and when.
Start dates depend on our current project schedule and permit timelines. For smaller remodels, we can often begin within 2–4 weeks of contract signing. For larger projects requiring permits, plan for 4–8 weeks before breaking ground. We'll give you a realistic start date upfront — we don't overpromise.
The most common causes are permit delays from the city or county, discovery of hidden issues (water damage, outdated wiring, structural concerns) once walls are open, and material lead times for custom orders. We communicate any changes immediately and never let surprises sit — you'll always know the current status.
For most kitchen and bathroom remodels, you can stay in the home — we work to keep disruption contained to the project area. For whole-home renovations or projects that affect HVAC, plumbing, or electrical throughout the house, temporary relocation may be more comfortable. We'll advise you honestly during the estimate.
Yes. We stand behind our workmanship with a 1-year warranty on labor for all projects. If something we built or installed fails due to workmanship within that period, we come back and make it right at no charge. Manufacturer warranties on materials and fixtures are separate and passed through to you.
Our warranty covers defects in how the work was performed — things like tile grout cracking due to improper installation, a door that won't close correctly, or a plumbing connection that develops a leak. It does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by the homeowner, or issues with materials that fall under the manufacturer's own warranty.
We're a family business and we value long-term relationships. If something comes up after the warranty period, call us — we'll assess it honestly. If it's a workmanship issue we feel responsible for, we'll work with you fairly. We're not the kind of company that disappears after the check clears.
Yes. Most major materials — roofing, windows, HVAC equipment, plumbing fixtures, appliances — come with manufacturer warranties ranging from 1 to 25+ years. We document all product warranties and pass them to you at project completion so you know exactly what's covered and for how long.
Start by submitting a quote request or calling us directly. We'll schedule a site visit to assess the project in person, then prepare a detailed written estimate that breaks down labor, materials, and timeline. Estimates are always free and come with no obligation.
We use a draw-based payment schedule tied to project milestones — you pay in stages as work is completed, not all upfront. The schedule is written into your contract before work begins. We also offer flexible monthly payment plans and can connect you with third-party home improvement financing if needed.
We're a family-owned company, so you'll have direct access to ownership throughout your project. For larger builds, a dedicated project manager coordinates day-to-day work and keeps you updated — but the owners remain involved and reachable, not hidden behind layers of staff.
We provide regular updates — typically weekly check-ins plus immediate communication if anything unexpected comes up. You'll have a direct phone number and email for your point of contact. We don't leave homeowners guessing about what's happening on their own property.
Yes, though changes after work begins are handled through a written change order that documents the scope adjustment, cost impact, and any timeline effect. This protects both parties and keeps the project on track. We encourage you to raise any changes as early as possible — changes are easier and less costly before a phase is complete.
